Nothing can make you feel more productive and ready to face the day quite like a bright clean space can. If you are looking for ways to brighten up a room, here are some tips to give you a few ideas.
Open Some Windows
Natural light is one of the fastest ways to brighten up a room. Opting for some lighter color curtains and thinner fabrics that let natural light pass through can help to keep a room bright. Blinds are a nice way to control the light and can help to keep the temperature cooler in the hotter months without making the room seem too dark and cold. Go for lighter color blinds like white or roman shades in a light color.
Freshen up the Paint
Color is so much fun to play with, especially when it comes to painting a room. One thing to keep in mind is that paint color choice can be the culprit when it comes to a room feeling too dark or closed off. Opt for light colors like creams and pastels and if you want a fun darker or bright color go for an accent wall. Sometimes an accent wall can do so much more for a room than painting the entire space!
Reduce the Clutter
Getting rid of clutter and cleaning up a space can do wonders for making it feel brighter and more open. Try organizing magazines into a basket instead of piled on a side table or get some decorative containers to place miscellaneous items into. Put things you don’t use often away in a closet or the attic or consider donating to those in need. You can find so many organization ideas on Pinterest and I have found a ton of great ideas just from browsing home goods stores and department stores.
Sometimes just plain old cleaning will do the trick. Wipe down and dust surfaces, vacuum or mop the floors and throw away any trash laying around. Don’t forget places like the floor baseboards and light switch plates. If you are like me and have pets with long hair you know how fast it can be before hair is everywhere! I keep a dust mop handy so I can sweep up hair easily and I have a hair roller handy for things like the couch and throw pillows.
Add a Pop of Color
A neutral color scheme can definitely help make a room feel brighter and more open but what about bright colors? By adding some colorful accents like bright throw pillows, a rug or even a colorful patterned chair you can add some fun personality to your room and still keep the brighter aesthetic you are going for.
